If you know me, then you know I love a good morning workout (preferably 5 to 5:30 am because of a certain someone, haha.) I know many of you love your sleep over working out in the morning, but I wanted to share why I love to work out at this time and why it will benefit your healthy + happy life. It will also be a nice “little adapt” to strive for now that the summer weather is finally here!
1.Keeps you on track to meet your fitness goals
Have you ever felt like there wasn’t enough time in the day? Well with a morning workout routine, you will get more time outside of work to do the things you love/want/need to do without sacrificing your health. By scheduling your workouts in the morning, you can make sure to stay on track to meet your fitness goals and/or the number of times you like to workout per week. It’s really that simple!
2. Forces you to go to bed earlier the night before
With a early morning wake up, you definitely need to adjust your bedtime in order to get a good night of rest the night before. Our bedtime routine regularly is to be in bed no later than 10:15 pm and usually 15 to 30 minutes earlier on the nights we workout in the AM. While it keeps you on track to meet your fitness goals, it also helps to create a healthy bedtime routine.
3. Gives you the ability to commit to work + social events in the evening
With your workout completed first thing in the morning, you are able to commit to work + social events at night because you’ve already gotten your workout out of the way. Not only does it give you more time in the evening, but it also makes you feel good about yourself that you’re able to prioritize your health first because it’s important to you.
4. Sets a positive mindset + sense of accomplishment for the day
I don’t know about you, but even if it can sometimes be tough to wake up early some days – I never ever regret it because of how amazing I feel! The high I get from getting a early workout in is unlike anything else. I truly feel like I’ve already accomplished so much already and can just crush the rest of the day. If you’ve recently done an early morning workout, you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about 🙂
5. Creates a long-term, healthy routine
Lastly, it helps create healthy “little adapts” that become part of your healthy + happy lifestyle. Setting a weekly “little adapt”, or goal, to workout at least once a week in the morning or workout in the morning on a day where you have an evening obligation is the easiest place to start. Once it becomes a habit you repeat over and over again, and it’s no longer a goal but a way of life. Trust me, it works! It’s very rare that I don’t workout in the morning on a day I know I have an event or will be traveling that night.
